New SCARY STORIES TO TELL IN THE DARK Trailer Creates The Perfect Haunted House

A brand new trailer for CBS Films’ upcoming adaptation of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark has been released and it’s a doozy of terrifying images and wonderfully recreated characters from the Schwartz & Gammell book that haunted a generation.

For someone who grew up with this book and has long been a fan of the art and stories, seeing these trailers is a beautiful thing. While I can’t say for certain if the final product is going to be good or not, I can say that everything so far fills me with hope and excitement. This is exactly what I want from this adaptation.

It’s 1968 in America. Change is blowing in the wind…but seemingly far removed from the unrest in the cities is the small town of Mill Valley where for generations, the shadow of the Bellows family has loomed large. It is in their mansion on the edge of town that Sarah, a young girl with horrible secrets, turned her tortured life into a series of scary stories, written in a book that has transcended time—stories that have a way of becoming all too real for a group of teenagers who discover Sarah’s terrifying home.

Directed by André Øvredal and written by Dan Hageman & Kevin Hageman with Guillermo del Toro, Sean Daniel, Jason F. Brown, J. Miles Dale and Elizabeth Grave producing, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark stars Zoe Colletti, Michael Garza, Gabriel Rush, Austin Abrams, Dean Norris, Gil Bellows, Lorraine Toussaint, Austin Zajur, and Natalie Ganzhorn.

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark haunts theaters August 9, 2019.
