Keanu Reeves Would Love to Play John Constantine Again

More than a decade before the apex of the current Superhero movie craze, director Francis Lawrence brought DC’s John Constantine to life; Constantine starred Keanu Reeves as the titular anti-hero, a character who battles demons on Earth despite being personally damned.

Reeves sat down with the folks at Variety recently and, though their conversation was focused on John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum (currently the top-grossing film in America), they hit on Constantine. It turns out that Reeves would jump at an opportunity to play the character again.

In the video embedded at the top of the article, Reeves states:

“I’ve always wanted to play John Constantine again. I just love that world, too, and I love that character. I just had a blast playing a character and (playing) in that world.”

I’ve always been a fan of 2005’s Constantine and would love to see Reeves tackle the role once again. To be clear, however, the is no indication that another Constantine feature film is in the works. A recent Constantine TV series was canceled. But a boy can dream, can’t he?

If it’s been a while, stroll down Memory Lane by revisiting the trailer and synopsis for Constantine below.

Synopsis:
As a suicide survivor, demon hunter John Constantine (Keanu Reeves) has literally been to hell and back — and he knows that when he dies, he’s got a one-way ticket to Satan’s realm unless he can earn enough goodwill to climb God’s stairway to heaven. While helping policewoman Angela Dodson investigate her identical twin’s apparent suicide, Constantine becomes caught up in a supernatural plot involving both demonic and angelic forces. Based on the DC/Vertigo Hellblazer comics.

In addition to Reeves, Constantine stars Rachel Weisz, Djimon Hounsou, and Shia LaBeouf.
