Exclusive: GANG SIGNS Latest Video Directed by DEAD SHACK’s Peter Ricq

One of the big horror favorites of last year was the Shudder exclusive Dead Shack. A wonderful blend of horror, comedy, and romance, the film was a critical delight and has charmed audiences since its release. The film featured music by Humans, the Canadian electropop duo of Robbie Slade and Dead Shack‘s director, Peter Ricq.

Not one to restrain his creativity, Ricq is also a part of the musical project Gang Signs along with Adam Fink and Matea Sarenac. Today, we’re excited to bring you the exclusive music video for their track “U&ME”

Ricq tells Dread Central, “‘U&ME’ is directly inspired by the relationship in the film True Romance. Boy meets call girl paid for by his boss. They fall in love, and he murders her pimp to ensure they can be together forever. Beautiful story isn’t it? Gang Signs songs are often inspired by the dark and honest hearts of what were supposed to be big pop films. While there’s not always something to be inspired by, when there is, it’s very natural to apply those plots and feelings to a new medium through our music.”

“The video is a proof of concept for a feature I’m trying to get produced titled GOD KID, based on true events and stories of Cole Taylor who stars in the video,” Ricq continues. “GOD KID is an emotionally conscious, creative young man burdened by a violent, traumatic upbringing. Kane was a sweet kid who had to grow up tough due to gang-affiliated role models seeking out their next child soldier. This birthed an internal battle within Kane between right and wrong, love and hate, well-intentioned protector and violent, ungovernable savage.”

You can follow Gang Signs on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Spotify, Bandcamp, and through their Official Website.
