Venture Into the Woods Once More in GRETEL AND HANSEL

While this isn’t going to satisfy my need for a sequel to 2013’s wildly entertaining Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, I think we can all be happy that there’s going to be another movie that tackles this witchy fairy tale.
Orion Pictures has confirmed that they will be releasing their horror adaptation of the Brothers Grimm Gretel and Hansel on January 31, 2020, per THR. The film will star It: Chapter One‘s Sophia Lillis as Gretel alongside newcomer Sammy Leakey, Silent Hill‘s Alice Krige, Jessica De Gouw, and Charles Babalola.
The Blackcoat’s Daughter‘s Osgood Perkins will be directing the film as well as co-writing with Rob Hayes.
THR explains, “The story is described as being set a long time ago in a distant fairy tale countryside and focuses on a young girl who leads her little brother into a dark wood in desperate search of food and work, only to stumble upon a nexus of terrifying evil.“
