Elizabeth Banks Featured in New Promo Poster for The Hunger Games

It may be considered the newest darling of the tweener crowd, but so far everything we’ve seen from The Hunger Games film adaptation has looked pretty promising, including this latest bit of promo in the form of an ad for China Glaze’s “Capitol Colours” series of nail polishes featuring Elizabeth Banks’ character, District 12 escort Effie Trinket.

MTV provides our first look at the ad and explains it as follows:

Just look at Ms. Trinket in this photo! Her perfectly curled hair is a very soft shade of pink, further accented by a purple headpiece and a fuchsia top. Effie’s makeup is equally bold, with hot pink eyeshadow above and below her eyes, plus matching lipstick (not to mention those feather-like adornments on her eyelashes). The ad features small swatches of what we presume to be the official 12 colors to be launched as part of the “Capitol Colours” line, as well as the leading and clever tagline “What will you be wearing to the opening ceremonies?” According to the news from the Capitol, the 12 polish colors will represent each of the 12 districts, which will allow the citizens of Panem to show support for their favorite tribute leading up to the Games on March 23rd.

The Hunger Games, directed by Gary Ross, stars Donald Sutherland, Woody Harrelson, Wes Bentley, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, Liam Hemsworth, Paula Malcolmson, Willow Shields, Latarsha Rose, Lenny Kravitz, Brooke Bundy, Leven Rambin & Jack Quaid (#1), Alexander Ludwig & Isabelle Fuhrman (#2), Ian Nelson & Kalia Prescott (#3), Ethan Jamieson & Tara Macken (#4), Chris Mark & Jackie Emerson (#5), Ashton Moio & Kara Petersen (#6), Sam Ly & Leigha Hancock (#7), Samuel Tan & Mackenzie Lintz (#8), Imanol Yepez-Frias & Annie Thurman (#9), Jeremy Marinas & Dakota Hood (#10), Amandla Stenberg & Dayo Okeniyi (#11), and Jennifer Lawrence (Katniss) & Josh Hutcherson (Peeta) (#12).

Set in post-apocalyptic America, the movie will introduce heroine Katniss Everdeen (Lawrence), a self-sufficient 16-year-old who lives in District 12, one of the poorer districts in the nation of Panem, what used to be known as North America before its utter destruction several years earlier. Katniss becomes a participant in the Hunger Games, an annual televised tournament where one boy and one girl from each of the nation’s twelve districts must fight to the death until only one competitor, or “tribute,” is left standing.
