It’s been a long wait since the Superbowl ads for Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark and now we can finally see what the film actually looks like thanks to a brand new trailer! Packed full of terrifying imagery straight out of Stephen Gammell & Alvin Schwartz’s controversial yet wildly popular book, the teaser offers a brief look into what the film will offer. To say that I’m excited is an understatement. This could very well be the horror event of the summer!
“It’s 1968 in America. Change is blowing in the wind…but seemingly far removed from the unrest in the cities is the small town of Mill Valley where for generations, the shadow of the Bellows family has loomed large. It is in their mansion on the edge of town that Sarah, a young girl with horrible secrets, turned her tortured life into a series of scary stories, written in a book that has transcended time—stories that have a way of becoming all too real for a group of teenagers who discover Sarah’s terrifying home.“
Written by Dan Hageman & Kevin Hageman, the film is directed by André Øvredal. It is produced by Guillermo del Toro, Sean Daniel, Jason F. Brown, J. Miles Dale and Elizabeth Grave.
Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark stars Zoe Colletti, Michael Garza, Gabriel Rush, Austin Abrams, Dean Norris, Gil Bellows, Lorraine Toussaint, Austin Zajur, and Natalie Ganzhorn.
