We got word from our friends at Collider that The Talisman is the next Stephen King novel that will be adapted into a feature film; The Handmaid’s Tale director Mike Barker will be at the helm. It’s important to note that King collaborated with Peter Straub on this novel. For the uninitiated, here’s the synopsis of The Talisman:
The iconic, “extraordinary” (The Washington Post) collaboration between bestselling authors Stephen King and Peter Straub—an epic thriller about a young boy’s quest to save his mother’s life.
Jack Sawyer, twelve years old, is about to begin a most fantastic journey, an exalting, terrifying quest for the mystical Talisman—the only thing that can save Jack’s dying mother. But to reach his goal, Jack must make his way not only across the breadth of the United States but also through the wondrous and menacing parallel world of the Territories.

Per Collider:
Frank Marshall will produce on behalf of Kennedy/Marshall, while former Amblin CEO Michael Wright will serve as an executive producer on The Talisman, which will be adapted by veteran genre scribe Chris Sparling (Buried).
