Tribesman Goes on the Attack in Exclusive Clip from Prehistoric Survival Horror ICEMAN
A macabre archeological discover serves as the jumping off point for Iceman, a frosty survival thriller certain to strike a chord with horror fans. Here’s a brief history lesson from the good folks at Wikipedia:
Ötzi, also called the Iceman, the Similaun Man, the Man from Hauslabjoch, the Tyrolean Iceman, and the Hauslabjoch mummy, is the well-preserved natural mummy of a man who lived between 3400 and 3100 BCE. The mummy was found in September 1991 in the Ötztal Alps, hence the nickname “Ötzi”, near Similaun mountain and Hauslabjoch on the border between Austria and Italy. He is Europe’s oldest known natural human mummy, and has offered an unprecedented view of Chalcolithic (Copper Age) Europeans. His body and belongings are displayed in the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology in Bolzano, South Tyrol, Italy.
Iceman writer/director Felix Randau is proud to have helmed the first feature film about Ötzi, and explains why he believe we haven’t seen the historical figure in movies before:
“When we started really getting into the material, we were also pretty amazed that we were the first ones. I’m sure that if Ötzi had been discovered in the Rocky Mountains, the Americans would have already made many films about him with all conceivable variations. For a long time, I had been searching for a mythical figure from our culture who could provide me with the basis for an archaic story – the drama of man, as it were. And then Ötzi simply arrived at my doorstep. A gift that I gladly accepted.”
