On December 16th Corman’s World: Exploits of a Hollywood Rebel (review here), a documentary five years in the making, is finally debuting in selected theaters in Los Angeles and New York. Directed by Alex Stapleton, the film explores the influence legendary filmmaker Roger Corman has had on Hollywood and some of the biggest and brightest names working in the industry today over the last 60 years of his career.
Featuring interviews with the likes of Paul W.S. Anderson, Peter Bogdanovich, Robert De Niro, Peter Fonda, Pam Grier, Ron Howard, Jack Nicholson, Eli Roth, Martin Scorsese, William Shatner and many others, Corman’s World chronicles how the director created his cult film empire one low-budget success at a time, all while capitalizing on undiscovered talent and pushing the boundaries of independent filmmaking.
Recently Dread Central had the opportunity to sit down with both Stapleton and the iconic filmmaker himself for an exclusive video interview. During our brief chat with the pair, we hear how Corman’s World came about, Stapleton’s experiences while making the documentary over the last five years and Corman’s feelings about reflecting on a career that he has no intention of slowing down any time soon.
Check out our video interview below, and if you live in the Los Angeles or New York area, you will not want to miss Corman’s World: Exploits of a Hollywood Rebel when it premieres in both cities this Friday.
