BIFFF Releases Two Hour Masterclass with Guillermo del Toro

Genre film festivals are one of the most magical events a horror fan can attend. You’re surrounded by like-minded people, get to watch a ton of amazing films well before they get an official release, and, quite often, you get to see and potentially even meet the people responsible for making films come to life. There is an energy in the air at these fests that cannot be explained but damn is it a joy. I highly recommend that everyone attend one at least once in your life. Make it a big deal. Make it your Disney World. Go and be with your people for a week and just relish the excitement of a horror festival.

At the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFFF) in 2018, attendees were able to take part in a brilliant masterclass featuring Hellboy, Cronos, Pan’s Labyrinth, and The Shape of Water director Guillermo del Toro, where they got to watch as he discussed his work, his methods, and even his singing abilities!

For aspiring filmmakers, it’s an invaluable presentation that will hopefully spur your imagination and offer new ideas and concepts that fuel your own work. For fans, this is a wonderful opportunity to see into the mind of one of this generation’s most fascinating filmmakers.

2019’s 37th Annual BIFFF will take place April 9-21. More information can be found on their website.
