Jason Blum is Trying (and Trying and Trying) To Make Another HALLOWEEN Movie

The mega-success of David Gordon Green’s Halloween sequel in 2018 seemed to make another chapter in the franchise launched by John Carpenter in 1978 a foregone conclusion. Blumhouse and Universal produced the film, and Jason Blum recently sat down with the folks at CinePOP to talk about horror. While Happy Death Day 2U was the main course of the conversation, the topic of another Halloween movie was floated. Here’s how he responded:

“I’m trying, I’m trying, trying. Not official yet but I’m trying.”

The fact that he used the word “trying” four times is kind of unsettling. While no one doubts his intentions, does the emphasis on putting effort in without having anything concrete to announce signal potential roadblocks? Only time will tell.

If you missed Halloween in 2018, the film is now available on Blu-ray/DVD. You can check out the synopsis and trailer below.

Synopsis:
It’s been 40 years since Laurie Strode survived a vicious attack from crazed killer Michael Myers on Halloween night. Locked up in an institution, Myers manages to escape when his bus transfer goes horribly wrong. Laurie now faces a terrifying showdown when the masked madman returns to Haddonfield, Ill. — but this time, she’s ready for him.

Green co-wrote the screenplay for Halloween with Danny McBride; the film stars Jamie Lee Curtis, Judy Greer, and Andi Matichak.
