Rest in Peace: CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON’s Julie Adams Has Passed Away

Some very sad news has been making its way around the web and we held off on reporting it in the hopes that it wasn’t true but it’s been confirmed that Julie Adams of Creature From the Black Lagoon has passed away at 92. The news comes from Ricou Browning, who was the Gill-man in Creature, as well as Revenge of the Creature and The Creature Walks Among Us. No cause of death has been released.

Born Betty Mad Adams in 1926, Adams played Kay Lawrence in the 1954 Universal Monster classic. However, that wasn’t her only role in the horror world. She also appeared in 1975’s Psychic Killer, 1988’s Black Roses, Lost, and three episodes of Alfred Hitchcock Presents. However, to act like these few examples are indicative of the breadth of her work is disingenuous. Adams was a star of television and film in a career that lasted over seven decades.

We send our deepest condolences to her family and loved ones. We also raise our glasses to the memory of Julie Adams and the undeniable ways she impacted the horror world forever.

Below is a Q&A panel with our own Rob Galluzzo where you’ll get to see and hear from Julie Adams herself, as well as Ricou Browning.
