The Predator DVD 250x300 - “You Are One Ugly Mother…” THE PREDATOR Gets the “Honest Trailer” Treatment

The folks a Screen Junkies have amassed legions of followers for their snarky yet spot-on assessments of today’s biggest genre offerings in the form of “Honest Trailers”. How many times have moviegoers felt misled by a promo that promises boatloads of excitement for a film that turns out to be extremely lackluster? The irony of “Honest Trailers” is that they arrive too late to give us a truly objective look at the films we spend our hard-earned dollars on.

Their latest subject (victim?) is Shane Black’s The Predator. I know, it’s almost like shooting fish in a barrel. With more than three postponements, fans were disappointed with the reboot before it even hit theaters. Then there was that scandal involving a real-life predator, something Screen Junkies manage to work into their latest “Honest Trailer.”

While it didn’t make anyone’s Top 10 Horror Movies of 2018 list, the film still managed to pull significant press. Even recently, volumes of unused concept art have been keeping the film somewhat relevant (even if it’s only as an exercise in imagining what could have been). Still, if you’re a hardcore fan of the Predator franchise, you probably found something redeemable about it. No judgments here. Let’s just hope the future gets a little bit brighter for The Predator.

If you missed The Predator while it was in theaters, the film is now available on Blu-ray/DVD and VOD (as previously mentioned). Give the trailer and synopsis and gander below. Black directed The Predator from a screenplay penned by Fred Dekker; the film’s sizable ensemble cast includes Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Jacob Tremblay, and Olivia Munn.

Synopsis:
From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home. The universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and an evolutionary biologist can prevent the end of the human race.
