Besides Bird Box, one of the final genre films of 2018 to really make a splash was Bandersnatch (directed by David Slade), released on Netflix December 28th. While not strictly a horror movie, it’s the first feature film produced under the Black Mirror umbrella and stood out for a variety of reasons. In addition to the franchises established explorations of the darker side of technology, Bandersnatch is an interactive film.

The easy thing to compare it to are those Choose Your Own Adventure books that were popular throughout the 1980s. At several points during Bandersnatch, viewers had a choice of different pathways for the characters to choose. And like the Choose Your Own Adventure stories, there’s nothing to prevent a viewer from going back to a crucial juncture and making a different choice. In fact, it’s encouraged.
As a result, there are several different endings of Bandersnatch; five, in fact, including a “secret” videogame.
