Poster & Release Date for Black Metal Biopic LORDS OF CHAOS

One of my favorite horror movies that screened at this year’s Fantastic Fest was the based-on-real-events biopic Lords of Chaos, directed by Jonas Akerland. Based on the novel by Michael Moynihan and Didrik Søderlind, Lords of Chaos is about the seminal black metal band Mayhem, but also about the scene that birthed the band and the worldwide infamy key players achieved.

Yesterday, we got our first look at the official poster for Lords of Chaos. It features Rory Culkin as Euronymous, the founder of Mayhem who may or may not have been the ringleader of a satanic posse that left a body count and scores of Norwegian churches burning in the mid and late 1980s. Give it a gander below, followed by synopsis for Lords of Chaos.

Synopsis:
A teenager’s quest to launch Norwegian black Metal in Oslo in the 1980s results in a very violent outcome. Lords of Chaos tells the true story of True Norwegian Black Metal and its most notorious practitioners – a group of young men with a flair for publicity, church-burning and murder: MAYHEM.

In addition to Culkin, Lords of Chaos stars Emory Cohen, Sky Ferreira, Jack Kilmer, and Valter Skarsgård. Look for it in select theaters on VOD platforms beginning February 8th. We don’t have a trailer yet, but we’ll bring it your way just as soon as it hits the internet. Stay tuned!
