Punk Rock Slasher & Festival Darling THE RANGER Gets Blu-ray/DVD Release in January

Regular readers of Dread Central know that I’ve been extremely enamored with the punk rock splatter-fest The Ranger ever since Isaw it at SXSW last March. Since then, I’ve watched on the sidelines as the film ran the festival circuit, amassing boat-loads of accolades along the way. I even had the honor of moderating a Q&A with director Jenn Wexler and producer Heather Buckley.

In 2019, Shudder will become the permeant digital residence of TheRanger, but today brings news that the film is also receiving a Blu-ray/DVD release via Black Fawn Distribution. Look for it to hit online and brick and mortar retailers beginning January 22nd, 2019. If you weren’t able to catch The Ranger at a film festival, and there aren’t any Red Box kiosks in your neck of the woods, you can peep the synopsis and trailer below.

Synopsis:
When Chelsea and her friends get in trouble with the cops, they flee the city and go on the run. Fueled by a hallucinogenic drug called Echo, they hope to lay low-and get high-in an old family hideout in the woods. But Chelsea’s got reservations about going back to nature and secrets she’s not sharing with her friends. When a shot rings out, her past comes crashing back, and the punks find themselves pitted against the local authority- an unhinged park ranger with an axe to grind.

The Ranger stars Chloe Levine, Jeremy Holm, and Granit Lahu.
