Fest Darling YOU MIGHT BE THE KILLER Hits Shudder This Week

The hysterical horror comedy You Might Be the Killer was one of the best good-time/feel-good horror movies screened at Fantastic Fest in Austin a couple months back. Here’s what I gushed back then:

You Might Be the Killer was part of Fantastic Fest’s Midnight slate and it’s the perfect flick to watch with a group of friends; a good time, horror comedy with a twist. It stars genre favorites Fran Kranz (Marty from The Cabin in the Woods) as Sam and Alyson Hannigan (Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s Willow) as his BFF Chuck. You Might Be the Killer could be considered a spiritual successor to Scream, a meta-horror movie about a terrified camp counselor who just might be his own worst enemy. With a crackling script and great chemistry amongst the supporting ensemble cast, it’s simultaneously a celebration and a send-up of supernatural slashers. While tropes are often upended, the cardinal rules of horror prove difficult to break.

If you weren’t able to see You Might Be the Killer when it screened at Fantastic Fest and/or when it aired on Syfy, you’ll soon be able to stream the festival darling—as long as you’re a Shudder subscriber! The film, written and directed by Brett Simmons, will hit the exclusively-horror streaming service later this week on December 6th!

This is straight talk, and I’m not on Shudder’s payroll: Shudder has become a must-have for horror fans looking for something beyond the mainstream, big studio offerings. I guarantee you’ll find a stable of excellent genre flicks that are at least as good as whatever last week’s blockbuster was. If you haven’t been convinced already by exclusives like The Ranger and Mandy, perhaps the synopses and trailer for You Might Be the Killer will be enough to bring you into the fold.

Synopsis:
A camp counselor suffering from blackouts finds himself surrounded by murder victims. He turns to his horror movie enthusiast friend for advice, and to contend with the idea he may be the killer.
