Check Out Character Designs for New BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER Graphic Novel Series

While original Buffy the Vampire Slayer mastermind Joss Whedon works on a new “reboot” TV series with Midnight, Texas creator Monica Owusu-Breen, the original “Scoobies” are getting back together—in illustrated form. Whedon has teamed up with BOOM! Studios as the creative consultant on a Buffy the Vampire Slayer graphic novel series. Issue #1 will hit online and brick and mortar retailers on January 9th, 2019.

This isn’t a sequel or a continuation; the series will go back to the beginning with Buffy, Willow, Xander and the gang back in high school. Jeanine Schaefer, Executive Editor, BOOM! Studios told ComicBook.com:

“Once you fight your way through all the monsters of the week and threats around every corner, Buffy is about something we’ve all experienced – the awkward, uncomfortable journey of figuring out who we choose to be. Dan Mora captures the spirit of that struggle with the perfect style and attitude for slaying the monsters hiding in the dark…and in the light of day. As you can see [in the sketches below] Dan has some huge plans for Buffy and the Gang – starting with some pretty major introductions of characters like Anya and…well, I won’t spoil that one quite yet. But let’s just say by issue #4, it’ll be clear that this is a love letter to the Buffy we all adore and will go in directions that no one ever expected.”
