Jason Blum Wants to Make CAM 2

As 2018 marches towards its end, the scrappy indie horror Cam is generating a ton of buzz since premiering on Netflix a couple weeks back. While not every response has been positive, even Stephen King went on record (via Twitter) saying that he loved it while praising Madeline Brewer’s knock out performance as Alice/Lola, a cam girl who finds her online persona hijacked by a doppelganger of unknown (perhaps even supernatural) origins.

Produced by Blumhouse, Cam struck a chord with a Twitter user who asked studio head, Jason Blum, if there’s any chance for a sequel? Blum’s response:

“I’d love to make one!”

Regular readers of Dread Central know that I’ve been singing Cam’s praises for months; it made my personal Top 10 list of horror movies screened at this year’s Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas. Synopsis:
Alice, an ambitious camgirl, wakes up one day to discover she’s been replaced on her show with an exact replica of herself.

Cam is directed by Daniel Goldhaber from a script penned by Isa Mazzei; in addition to Brewer, the film stars Patch Darragh, Melora Walters, and Devin Druid.
