CHILD’S PLAY Viral Marketing Begins With Website and Mobile Wallpapers

It may not be hitting theaters until summer of next year, but Orion isn’t taking any chances on the upcoming Child’s Play remake. To ensure that it’s firmly in mind for the next half a year, the distributor has launched an official website that promotes the brand new “Buddi” doll and all of its features. For instance, it’s got cloud-based voice recognition, the ability to understand the tone and inflection of the person it’s listening to, spatial awareness, and is apparently bi-lingual in both English and Spanish.

Additionally, several mobile wallpapers have been released, each of which can be seen below. While playful in nature, there is undoubtedly something sinister and malevolent about each one…

A mother gives her son a toy doll for his birthday, unaware of its more sinister nature.

Directed by Lars Klevberg and based on a script by Tyler Burton Smith, Child’s Play stars Aubrey Plaza, Brian Tyree Henry, and Gabriel Bateman.

It will slice its way into theaters on June 21, 2019.
