Cast Expands for THE BOY 2 Starring Katie Holmes

Listen, I’m not mad about the fact that they’re making a sequel to 2016’s The Boy (starring Lauren Cohan and Rupert Evans); I quite enjoyed the film. I just don’t know exactly how they plan on making something as compelling as the original, which pivots on a huge twist. Some genies just can’t be put back inside bottles.

I’m heartened, though, that The Boy 2 is reuniting original Boy director and writer William Brent Bell and Stacey Menear respective. Now, STXfilms and Lakeshore Entertainment are pushing forward on the project first revealed during Southern California’s recent AFM convention. Late yesterday brought word that star Katie Holmes has found a co-lead in Christopher Convery (Gotham, The Girl in the Spider’s Web); she plays single mother Liza and he plays her son Jude.

Synopsis:
Unaware of the terrifying history of Heelshire Mansion, a young family moves into the estate, where their young son soon makes an unsettling new friend, an eerily life-like doll he calls Brahms.

It’ll be a while before we get a target release date or a trailer, but we’ll keep you posted on all Boy-related news as details emerge. Stay tuned! In the meantime, revisit the synopsis and trailer for 2016’s The Boy below.

Synopsis:
A young American named Greta (Lauren Cohan) takes a job as a nanny for an 8-year-old boy in a remote English village. To her surprise, Greta learns that the child of her new employers is a life-size doll. They care for the doll as if it was human, which helps the couple to cope with the death of their own son 20 years earlier. When Greta violates a list of strict rules, a series of disturbing and inexplicable events bring her worst fears to life, leading her to believe that the doll is alive.
