Jason Voorhees Actor Derek Mears Cast as Lead in SWAMP THING TV Series

Horror fans remember him best as the man behind the hockey mask in 2009’s Friday the 13th reboot; now, Derek Mears will be playing the titular vegetable-based antihero in the Swamp Thing TV series currently in the works at DC Universe. The news also came with casting news regarding Mears’ human counterpart: Andy Bean will play biologist Alec Holland.

According to THR:

Swamp Thing, adapted from the DC Entertainment comic character created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson, is being produced by [James Wan’s] Atomic Monster in association with Warner Bros. Television. The first episode of the series will be co-written by showrunners Mark Verheiden, whose credits include Battlestar Galactica and Daredevil, and IT screenwriter Gary Dauberman, with Len Wiseman directing. Verheiden, Dauberman, Wiseman, Michael Clear, and Aquaman helmer James Wan are executive producers.
