GARFIELD Goes Manga with Horrifying Results in Junji Ito-Inspired Series by Will Burke

Junji Ito is a renown manga artist from Japan known for his stark style and unnerving undertones. Now, one of America’s most beloved and benign comic characters has been reimagined Junji Ito-style by up and coming artist Will Burke. He recently released a series featuring the lasagna-obsessed feline Garfield (created by Jim Davis) that has since gone viral. Have a look Burke’s images below, shared via Instagram.

Artists Statement: I seem to have gone a bit viral over the week and I suddenly have a rather large audience who greatly appreciates my work which is extremely exciting! It’s also intimidating! I don’t think I’ve ever had this many people look at my work before. I’m extremely thankful to everyone who has been sharing my art; it’s given me some incredible opportunities this past week.
