THE NUN Meets SHUTTER ISLAND in Gripping Trailer for WELCOME TO MERCY

Corin Hardy’s The Nun isn’t the only 2018 horror movie set in a super-creepy convent; the trailer for IFC Midnight’s Welcome to Mercy looks like a mix of the latest installment from The Conjuring franchise and Shutter Island. It features a single mother who’s been shuttled off to a secluded island in order to undergo evaluations and, if necessary, an exorcism.
Synopsis:
A young woman struggles against the unholy forces that possess her in this terrifying occult thriller. After being stricken with stigmata, single mother Madaline is sent to a remote convent where nothing is what it seems and her friend August is seemingly the only person she can trust. Together, they must confront the demons inside Madaline before she becomes the Antichrist.
Welcome to Mercy is directed by Tommy Bertelsen from a script penned by Kristen Ruhlin; the film stars Lily Newmark, Eileen Davies, and Kristen Ruhlin. Look for it in select theaters and VOD platforms on November 2nd.
