Written and directed by Damien Leone, Terrifier has been one of the biggest achievements of Dread Central Presents, the horror distribution arm of Epic Pictures. The film’s success is due, in no small part, to the contributions of David Howard Thornton, who plays the ruthlessly sadistic and devilishly mischievous Art the Clown. Whether you’ve seen the film or not, you’ll soon have an opportunity to watch Terrifier, drive-in style, with none other than Art the Clown in attendance-if you dare!
We recently reported that Thornton is scheduled to be a featured guest at The Cult Classic Convention, happening in Bastrop, Texas, September 28th through the 30th. Now, Dread Central and The Gas Station are proud to announce that we’ll be co-hosting a special screening of Terrifier on Friday, September 28th as an added bonus for Cult Classic Convention attendees.
The event will take place at the actual gas station featured in Tobe Hooper’s seminal slasher The Texas Chainsaw Massacre; it’s where the doomed protagonists had their last fill-up before crossing paths with Leatherface and his cannibalistic clan. The Gas Station was recently restored to its 1970s-era glory by entrepreneur Roy Rose and, though it doesn’t peddle petrol anymore, it’s a Mecca for horror fans with an immense gift shop and a kitchen that serves up some of the best bar-b-que in Texas!
In addition to completely restoring The Gas Station to movie accuracy, Rose built bungalows out back to accommodate guests looking to spend the night in Leatherface’s backyard. It boasts deluxe amenities, including an outdoor dining area and a lawn that can convert into an outdoor movie theater. It’s the perfect location for our Terrifier screening, where old-school classic horror and contemporary horror will collide with a vengeance!
While the Terrifier screening on Friday, September 28th is for Cult Classic Convention attendees only, you can learn more about The Gas Station and plan a trip out (or spend the night) by visiting their official Facebook Page, HERE. Of course, if you’re in the area, and you’re able to attend, the Cult Classic Convention is something you won’t want to miss!
About the Cult Classic Convention:
Roy and Lisa Rose, entrepreneurs, had a great desire to bring the fans of horror and cult classics together in a friendly space to experience all forms of different cult genres including art, collectibles, props, and celebrity guest.
They’ve partnered with Edwin Neal and Theresa Jara to bring The Cult Classic Convention to Bastrop, Texas. It’s home to several film sites including Friday the 13th (2009), Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974), and Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2.
For a complete schedule, list of special guests, and/or to purchase tickets, visit the Cult Classic Convention’s Official Website, HERE. To briefly recap Travis Mullin’s article from last July:
Thornton will join a handful of Chainsaw franchise alumni including Ed Neal and Allen Danzinger (The Texas Chain Saw Massacre), Bill Johnson (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2), R.A. Mihailoff and Jennifer Banko (Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre III), Dan Yeager (Texas Chainsaw 3D), and — in his first convention appearance — Tyler Cone from Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation!
Other guests will include Marta Kober (Friday the 13th Part II), Kelli Maroney (Chopping Mall), Robert Mukes (House of 1000 Corpses), W. F. Bell (The Walking Dead, Rob Zombie’s 31), Lane Hughes and L. C. Holt (You’re Next and the V/H/S films), and a Circus of the Dead reunion (Parrish Randall, Rusty Edwards, Ryan Clapp, Chanel Ryan and director Billy Pon), with more to be announced!
Attendees of the Cult Classic Convention are invited to attend a special screening of Terrifier at The Gas Station on Friday, September 28th. The festivities kick off at 9 PM and the kitchen and gift shop will remain open. Stick around after the screening to meet David Howard Thornton aka Art the Clown, and feel free to come decked out in your best creepy clown attire!
A maniacal clown named Art terrorizes three young women on Halloween night and everyone else who stands in his way.
