Ultraviolent Fighting Game GUTS Heading To Consoles
Move over, Mortal Kombat, there’s a new ultraviolent fighting game in town! The latest trailer for GUTS is so gruesome that it makes Mortal Kombat X look like Pokkén Tournament, and needless to say, we’re pretty hyped.
GUTS (an acronym for Gory Ultimate Tournament Show) does not feature a health bar or a timer. So, if you’re wondering how to defeat your opponent, the answer is pretty simple: you need to dismember them completely. The last person standing will be the winner, so to speak. As the trailer so eloquently puts it, ‘limbs are overrated’.
The game takes place in the year 2067, with contestants on the titular reality TV show competing for fame and fortune in addition to satisfying the public’s craving for blood. Brazilian developer Flux Game Studio aimed to make GUTS accessible to both newcomers and hardcore fighting game players, so don’t let the fact that you were never able to master the complex moves in Soulcalibur stop you from trying it out.
Publisher Libredia Entertainment recently confirmed that GUTS will be heading to PS4 and Xbox One this Autumn, although it’s already available on Steam for $19.99. The PC version has also just received a major new update which allows for smoother gameplay and improved graphics, which should make what already looks like a very fun game become even more enjoyable.
As well as the trailer, you can also view some images from GUTS in our gallery below, although you might need to wear boots to wade through all the gore.
