Oz Perkins to Direct New Adaptation of HANSEL & GRETEL

Oz Perkins

One of the best genre films to hit the scene in the past few years has been writer-director Oz Perkins’ The Blackcoat’s Daughter starring Emma Roberts and Kiernan Shipka. And it’s with this in mind we here at Dread Central like to keep our eyes on Perkins.

Earlier this year Perkins signed on to direct an adaptation of Paul Tremblay‘s thriller A Head Full of Ghosts for Focus Features and today we’re excited to pass along news via Collider today that Perkins has signed on to direct Gretel and Hansel for Orion Pictures and Automatik Entertainment.

Rob Hayes wrote the script with Brian Kavanaugh-Jones (Sinister) and Fred Berger (La La Land) producing for Automatik. Production is expected to start this fall in Europe

Synopsis:

A faithful version of the Brothers Grimm fairy tale about a pair of siblings kidnapped by a terrifying witch who lives in the surrounding woods.
