This Friday will see the release of More Music From the Further, a collection of unreleased and developmental cues from Joseph Bishara‘s score for the first three Insidious films. Featuring 27 tracks, the album will be released as a digital download option as well as limited vinyl.
Bishara’s Insidious score is, in my opinion, one of the great masterpieces of horror music from this century. Swirling dissonant violins create a cacophony of dread, whether it be muted or shrieking with the intensity of Bernard Herrmann’s Psycho stabs. There is an unearthly quality about the melodies that defies standard conventions and causes the hair on your arms to stand on edge. There is no safety in Bishara’s music…nor should there be.
