VENOM Bares His Teeth In Terrifying Japanese Poster

Following on from the exhilarating second trailer earlier this week, the Japanese poster for Venom has now made its way online, and it’s either the most awesome thing you’ll see all day, or the most disturbing.

The poster depicts Venom with his enormous tongue and his rows of razor-sharp teeth in full focus, with a ton of saliva dripping out of his mouth for full effect. As the film takes place in San Francisco, you can clearly see the Oakland Bay Bridge at the bottom of the poster, where it looks like it will be crushed under the weight of Venom’s drool.

Avengers: Infinity War co-director Joe Russo confirmed that Venom is not part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (regardless of what Amy Pascal had to say on the subject), and will instead be the first film in Sony’s Spider-Verse franchise, which will focus on Spider-Man villains. Other Spider-Verse films will include Silver & Black, Morbius, and the just announced Kraven the Hunter. Sony allegedly owns the film rights to around nine-hundred Marvel characters, so the possibilities are endless.

Venom stars Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, the reporter turned Lethal Protector, with the supporting cast including Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Woody Harrelson, Reid Scott, Jenny Slate, and Scott Haze. The film is being directed by Ruben Fleischer, and opens in wide release on October 5.
