Exclusive: Brazilian Fantasy Horror Gets Hairy in GOOD MANNERS Teaser

While horror fans have devoured genre cinema from Eastern Asia and Europe, there are still parts of the world where great titles seem to evade US audiences. We’re still in need of being exposed to titles from India, throughout Africa, and South America. Luckily, today I’ve got something for you all today from that last region in the form of Good Manners, a Brazilian gothic fantasy/horror about relationships (in multiple forms) between social classes, motherhood, and a werewolf. Because…why not, right?

Above is an exclusive teaser for the film, which revels in The City of Lost Children colors set against the juxtaposition of squalor and opulence. Clearly meant to be seen just as much of a drama as a horror film, Good Manners is the kind of horror fare that will have people talking for days.

Clara, a lonely nurse from the outskirts of São Paulo, is hired by mysterious and wealthy Ana to be the nanny of her soon to be born child. Against all odds, the two women develop a strong bond. But a fateful night marked by a full moon changes their plans.

Directed by Juliana Rojas and Marco Dutra, Good Manners stars Isabél Zuaa, Marjorie Estiano, and Miguel Lobo. The film is playing now at New York’s IFC Center. Tickets can be purchased on their official website.
