Twitch Film is reporting that Gary Oldman has been offered the role of the Colonel while Helena Bonham-Carter has been offered Lady Miyako in Jaume Collet-Sera’s US remake of Akira. Mind you, this is not official but still pretty interesting. Look for a solid announcement either way soon.

With a green light in place, the studio can begin shopping for the two male leads; Tron: Legacy star Garrett Hedlund is considered a front-runner. Both Warner and Collett-Sera have been keen on the actor but had to wait for a green light to make their move.
