The Happytime Murders 1 203x300 - Go Figure, THE HAPPYTIME MURDERS Scores Hard R RatingGo figure Brian Henson’s upcoming puppet murder-mystery flick The Happytime Murders starring Melissa McCarthy, Maya Rudolph, Joel McHale, and Elizabeth Banks has scored an R-rating via the MPAA.

The film has been rated R for “strong crude and sexual content and language throughout, and some drug material.”

And on top of that, other horror flicks that snagged rating this week are What Keeps You Alive, which has been rated R for “violence including bloody images, language, and brief nudity.”

And Slender Man, which has been rated PG-13 for “disturbing images, sequences of terror, thematic elements and language including some crude sexual references.”

The Happytime Murders is directed by Brian Henson from a screenplay by Todd Berger and stars Melissa McCarthy, Maya Rudolph, Joel McHale, and Elizabeth Banks. Henson, McCarthy, Jeff Hayes, and Ben Falcone produce. The film hits theaters August 17th.

Synopsis:

No Sesame. All Street. THE HAPPYTIME MURDERS is a filthy comedy set in the seedy underbelly of Los Angeles where puppets and humans coexist. Two clashing detectives with a shared secret, one human and one puppet, are forced to work together again to solve the brutal murders of the former cast of a beloved classic puppet television show.
