For the past two years, the Arrow Video FrightFest has released guidebooks during their annual festival, including The FrightFest Guide to Exploitation Movies and The FrightFest Guide to Monster Movies. To continue that trend, this year will see the release of yet another guidebook, this one titled The FrightFest Guide to Ghost Movies and it’s written by Axelle Carolyn (Tales of Halloween, Soulmate).

Reviewing over 200 titles from around the world over the past 120 years, Carolyn’s book will highlight the wide variety of spooky films and how they influenced and impacted the horror genre.

As she explains, “Ghosts have haunted me my whole life. Everything I’ve ever directed, from short films, to Soulmate and Tales of Halloween, has featured ghosts — they’re simply my favourite supernatural creatures. Ghost stories have been told for as long as humans have gathered around campfires, and their evolution on screen, from comedies to horror, is fascinating to look at.”

Featuring a forward by Andy Nyman (Ghost Stories), the official launch will be at Arrow Video FrightFest, which takes place August 23-27. The international street date will be October 26.

FrightFest takes place at Cineworld Leicester Square and The Prince Charles Cinema between Aug 23-Aug 27. Festival passes will go on sale Saturday, June 30 at noon UK time and will only be available to buy online. Single tickets will go on sale on Saturday, July 21 from 9am UK time. More information can be found at the festival’s official website.
