New Images of Keith David as Portifoy Simms in TALES FROM THE HOOD 2

When it was announced half a year ago that we’d be seeing a sequel to 1995’s Tales From the Hood, the horror community exploded in joy. The original has segments that still haunt the dreams of countless people (those damn dolls, man) and characters that have become iconic, whose lines are instantly quotable.
While many were disappointed that Clarence Williams III would not be reprising his role as Portifoy Simms – something we broke two months ago – it could not be denied that his replacement, Keith David, is a stellar casting decision. Known for his roles in The Thing, Spawn, They Live, and much, much more, David’s presence and voice will undoubtedly carry this film into the hearts and fears of a new generation.
Today, three new images from the film have been released and can be seen below. Looks like David is all dressed up for some spooky shenanigans!

Original 1995 TALES FROM THE HOOD makers Rusty Cundieff (FEAR OF A BLACK HAT) and Darin Scott (DARK HOUSE, the upcoming DEEP BLUE SEA II) are back as writers/directors here (both scripted the first film, with Cundieff directing). Keith David displays gleeful showmanship and silent bemusement as Simms, a role played in the original by Clarence Williams III. Bryan Batt demonstrates a plethora of facets as the phony medium. TALES FROM THE HOOD 2 is squarely in the tradition of outrageous, entertaining anthology horror, but it also addresses serious issues with a forceful point of view, just as folklore has done throughout history.”
Tales From the Hood 2 will have its world premiere on Friday, July 13 at Montreal’s Fantasia International Film Festival.
