Exclusive: Cadabra Records is Back With Edgar Allan Poe’s THE BLACK CAT

What would it be on Dread Central if we didn’t have a regular reveal of a new Cadabra Records title, right? The boutique spoken-word label has a new beautiful piece of work on the way and we’re here to reveal all the details!

Shipping in early August, Cadabra Records will be releasing Edgar Allan Poe’s The Black Cat, which will be narrated by Anthony D.P. Mann and feature music from Fabio Frizzi. This release marks the second time Frizzi has composed original music for Cadabra Records, the first being for their version of H.P. Lovecraft’s The Picture in the House.

What’s interesting here is that Frizzi was actually going set to score Lucio Fulci’s The Black Cat back in 1981. However, that project never came to fruition, so this is a rather delightful opportunity for the composer, who states, “It’s been a while. The Black Cat is back. And with enthusiasm, the magical flow of creativity is again with me!”

Anthony D.P. Mann is a Canadian-based actor and filmmaker, whose on-screen character credits include Dracula, Sherlock Holmes, The Phantom of the Opera and Ebenezer Scrooge. On audio, he has brought to life the works of Edgar Allan Poe, Robert Chambers, Charles Dickens, M.R. James and H.P. Lovecraft, working alongside such film and TV luminaries as Sir Derek Jacobi, Tony Todd and David Warner. Indulging in his love of audiodrama / spoken-word and all things macabre, Anthony is delighted to be called upon to bring this evil little tale to life…
