RKSS’ Nostalgia Thriller SUMMER OF ’84 Lands Summer of ’18 Release Date

Montreal filmmaking collective RKSS (Turbo Kid) AKA François Simard, Anouk Whissell and Yoann-Karl Whissell’s nostalgia era thriller Summer of ’84 made its World Premiere earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival.

Our own Jonathan Barkan reviewed the film saying “You’ll Leave This Film Shaken.” And today we have word on when you can see it yourself. Gunpowder & Sky will release the film in theaters on August 10, 2018, and then it will be available on VOD and Digital HD on August 24, 2018.

Summer of ’84 is directed by the Montreal filmmaking collective RKSS (Turbo Kid) which consists of François Simard and brother and sister Anouk Whissell and Yoann-Karl Whissell. The cast includes Graham Verchere (Once Upon a Time), Judah Lewis (The Babysitter), Caleb Emery (Goosebumps), Cory Grüter-Andrew (Fargo), Tiera Skovbye (Riverdale), and Rich Sommer (Mad Men).

The film hits theaters August 10th, and then VOD and Digital HD August 24th.


Summer, 1984: The perfect time to be 15 years old and carefree. But when neighborhood conspiracy theorist Davey Armstrong begins to suspect his police officer neighbor might be the serial killer all over the local news, he and his three best friends begin an investigation that soon turns dangerous.
