James Wan Remaking Classic 90’s Spider Flick ARACHNOPHOBIA

One of my favorite creature-features of my childhood is Frank Marshall’s Arachnophobia starring Jeff Daniels, John Goodman, and Julian Sands. And today we have word the film is getting a remake.

Yes, Deadline reports that James Wan will be producing a remake of the classic 1990 spider flick via his company Atomic Monster and Amblin. Wan won’t direct this but he will be guiding it as producer and word around the spider-infest campfire is they will be hiring a writer very soon.

So stay tuned!

The original film was directed by Frank Marshall from a script written by Don Jakoby and Wesley Strick and starred Jeff Daniels, Julian Sands, Harley Jane Kozak, and John Goodman. It was released on July 18, 1990.

Synopsis:

After a nature photographer (Mark L. Taylor) dies on assignment in Venezuela, a poisonous spider hitches a ride in his coffin to his hometown in rural California, where arachnophobe Dr. Ross Jennings (Jeff Daniels) has just moved in with his wife, Molly (Harley Jane Kozak), and young son. As town residents start turning up dead, Jennings begins to suspect spiders and must face his fears as he and no-nonsense exterminator Delbert McClintock (John Goodman) fight to stop a deadly infestation.
