E3 2018: FromSoftware Head to Feudal Japan with SEKIRO: SHADOWS DIE TWICE
Seeing as Bloodborne was a PlayStation exclusive, it’s only fair that FromSoftware should give Microsoft some love by revealing their new title Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice at Microsoft’s E3 press conference, although rest assured that the game will also be heading to PS4.
Although it bears a resemblance to Tenchu, FromSoftware’s previous series of ninja games, it Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will actually be a brand new IP set in a fictionalised version of Feudal Japan. I say ‘fictionalized’ because I’m pretty sure there weren’t any ten foot tall samurai warrios or Godzilla-sized snakes in Feudal Japan, although I’ll admit that I’m pretty ignorant on the subject.
Regarding gameplay, it looks like we can look forward to very bloody sword-based combat, and will also be using a grappling hook to swing around mountains and treetops, kind of like a samurai version of Spider-Man. As FromSoftware are best known for Dark Souls, it’s also probably safe to assume that we’ll be dying a shit ton of times in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and we don’t think we would have it any other way.
Oddly enough, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will be published by Activision, making it FromSoftware’s first collaboration with a major US publisher, but let’s just hope they don’t milk it dry with microtransactions like they did with Destiny and Call of Duty. Either way, be keeping a close eye on this one for the foreseeable future.
