THE HAUNTING OF NICOLE BROWN SIMPSON is a Real Movie and Stars Mena Suvari

South of Hell

Voltage and Skyline Entertainment are evidently working on an anthology of (tasteless?) supernatural stories inspired by true events. The first in this anthology is The Haunting Of Sharon Tate starring Hilary Duff, which wrapped filming earlier this year.

The second film in the series has just been announced – and get THIS crazy shit – it’s called The Haunting Of Nicole Brown Simpson. Yes, THAT Nicole Brown Smith.

The film, as you can imagine, follows OJ’s ex-wife’s point of view throughout the days leading to her brutal murder and Mena Suvari (yes, THAT Mena Suvari) has signed on to play the role.

On top of that, Screen Daily reports the film will also dig into the strange relationship Smith had with a fucking serial killer (she had no idea this was how the man spent his alone-time) who then went and confessed that HE killed Smith all those years ago… Thanks for the info, dude.

I don’t know how I feel about this new series of real-life supernatural films. They sure are treading a fine line between being super interesting and being downright salacious-slaughter bullcrap. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see which side of the line the films fall on once they hit. I’ll reserve judgment until then.

What do you think of this film and/or this whole “anthology of supernatural stories inspired by true events” series Voltage and Skyline Entertainment are cooking up? Make sure to let us know in the comments below or on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram!

The Haunting Of Nicole Brown Simpson will be directed by Daniel Farrands and produced by Farrands, Lucas Jarach, and Eric Brenner with Jim Jacobsen as executive producer.

It begins shooting this summer.

Synopsis:

Shortly after ending her marriage to famed football star OJ Simpson, Nicole (Mena Suvari) sought refuge in the company of her inner circle. When her intimate relationship with interior designer Faye Resnick soured, Nicole crossed paths with an enigmatic handyman named Glen Rogers. Moving from one clandestine relationship to another, Nicole began a brief but torrid affair with Glen before quickly discovering his darker side. After Nicole witnesses Glen carrying on a bizarre conversation with an unseen entity named Charlie, he attacks her and flees into the night.

After Glen’s sudden disappearance, Nicole’s life goes into a tailspin. She begins hearing and seeing things that aren’t there. A dark apparition haunts her at every turn. Alone in her house one night, she is brutally attacked by a violent unseen force. Increasingly paranoid and concerned for her safety, Nicole seeks the help of the police, her therapist, and even a renowned psychic, but they provide no comfort.

On the evening of June 12th, 1994, Nicole makes the decision to confront whatever negative energy is consuming her life, unaware that the stage has already been set for her dark date with destiny.
