The DC Universe and Stephen King’s IT Crash Together in This Fan Short

With The New Mutants going through reshoots to make it “a horror film“, at least per star Charlie Heaton, one has to wonder if the popularity of a decade-long superhero trend will allow it to spill over with regularity into other genres. Marvel has already proven that superhero films can easily have comedic elements but what about horror? Theoretically, one could argue that Unbreakable, Split, and the forthcoming Glass fit the bill but few superhero movies have truly gone into the deep end of the macabre.

Since Hollywood seems to be tipping their toes into that particular pool, it’s up to fans to create the visions that they crave. Enter writers/directors Hisonni Johnson and Alberto Triana, who have made a 16-minute short film titled Red Hood It. Set in the DC Universe, the unauthorized follows Red Hood as he pursues Pennywise the Dancing Clown of Stephen King’s It fame. Unflinchingly violent and most assuredly NSFW, this short brings us a vision of DC’s universe that is certainly not meant for children.

Certainly made well with solid production, some great makeup, and professional equipment, this certainly feels like a part of a greater picture. That being said, the ending suggests that there will be more so we can only sit back and wait to see where this story will go!
