Green Room Director Leaves True Detective Season 3 After 2 Episodes

I am a big fan of season one of HBO’s True Detective. Massive, in fact. I didn’t care for season 2 but all the same I was really looking forward to season 3 – especially considering Green Room director Jeremy Saulnier was on board to direct.

While I’m still looking forward to the new season, there is a bit of a blow to my enthusiasm coming in via THR which reports that Saulnier has bowed out of directing the season after only helming two episodes. Daniel Sackheim (“The Americans”) will take Saulnier’s place and is expected to divide up the remaining episodes with series creator Nic Pizzolatto.

Director and executive producer Jeremy Saulnier has completed the first two episodes of True Detective season 3 and will be departing the production due to scheduling issues,” an HBO spokesperson said in a statement. “Daniel Sackheim has come on board as a director and executive producer for the series alongside series creator and director Nic Pizzolatto.”

Are you excited for the third season, or are you upset that Jeremy Saulnier has dropped out? Make sure to hit us up and let us know what you think in the comments below or on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram!

This third season stars Oscar winner Mahershala Ali, Carmen Ejogo, Stephen Dorff, Scoot McNairy, Mamie Gummer and Ray Fisher. Pizzolatto wrote every episode this season with the exception of episode four which was co-written along with David Milch.

Season three is expected to debut in 2019.

Synopsis:

True Detective season 3 follows a macabre crime in the heart of the Ozarks, a mystery that’s said to deepen over decades and play out in three separate time periods.
