Slayaway Camp: Butcher’s Cut Carves Up The Nintendo Switch
After originally being released on PC in 2016 before making its way to PS4 last year, the pixelated slasher game Slayaway Camp has now finally been released on the Nintendo Switch for $14.99. We enjoyed the game in our review, so it comes highly recommended from us. And it also stars Jason Voorhees actor Derek Mears, which makes it a little more awesome.
Slayaway Camp was developed by Blue Wizard Digital, who went on to make Friday the 13th: Killer Puzzle, and takes place back in 1984, with a maniac known only as Skullface deciding to take it upon himself to slaughter the substance abusing teens at the titular camp. It’s worth noting that the Butcher’s Cut version of Slayaway Camp, which is exclusive to consoles, contains even more gore than the already ultraviolent PC original, so even with the blocky Minecraft-style visuals, this is still a game bound to satisfy any gorehounds out there.
The Nintendo Switch is absolutely killing it when it comes to horror games, but seeing as Dead by Daylight and Friday the 13th: The Game were never released on the system, it appears that Slayaway Camp now serves as the Switch ambassador for the slasher sub-genre. So if you’re a Switch owner, head over to the Nintendo eShop to get in on some of the murderous action. Those campers aren’t going to kill themselves, you know.
