Ryan Turek to Be Keynote Speaker at 2018 Salem Horror Fest

This October marks the second annual Salem Horror Fest, and today we have awesome news as Ryan Turek, accomplished horror expert and studio executive at Blumhouse Productions (Halloween, Happy Death Day, Truth or Dare), will be a keynote speaker!

Turek will address the current state of horror and what it reveals about our society in a kickoff event on Thursday, October 4th, following the Salem Haunted Happenings Parade.

I’m absolutely honored to have been asked to come out to the Salem Horror Fest,” Turek said. “I’m looking forward to speaking about a genre that I live and breathe, talking with folks who enjoy it with as much passion as I do, and seeing some cool movies at the fest.”

Few things are as scary as starting your own business,” festival director Kevin Lynch said in a statement. “Ryan has proven it’s possible to align success with passion and vision while still pushing the conversation forward. His experience and insight are enormously significant, making him a powerful champion for the horror community.”

Turek recently wrapped production for Blumhouse’s upcoming sequel to John Carpenter’s Halloween. And last year he helped launch Slashback Video, an art installation recreating the experience of going to the video rental video store, with the Bearded Lady’s Mystic Museum in Burbank, California.

He also co-hosts the Shock Waves podcast and has been involved in a number of entrepreneurial horror pursuits such as co-founding our very own Dread Central and Shock Til You Drop, where he served as managing editor.

The second annual Salem Horror Fest kicks off Thursday, October 4th!
