Exclusive: The Jukebox Romantics Channel Horror to Fight Suicide

After recent events, mental health has been in the news again. As someone who has been very vocal about our society needing to adjust its thoughts surrounding people who have mental health disorders, as well as those disorders themselves, I’m happy to take any opportunity to send out messages of positivity and hope.

That’s why I was thrilled to hear that the world of horror and a message of perseverance were combined in “Gringo Starr”, the new music video from New York punk rockers The Jukebox Romantics, which we are premiering below! Taken from their album Sleepwalk Me Home, “Gringo Starr” aims to give people hope that things will get better and that life isn’t as bad as they may think.

The band explains, “This is an anti-suicide song. Not that too many people are pro-suicide but it’s about finding the light in the darkness. Those days where getting out of bed can seem like solving all the worlds problems and it paralyzes you. Starts pretty dark and then you realize by the end of the song that life isn’t that bad.

Meanwhile, director Robert Vornkahl tells us, “Well, I showed up at 10am and everyone was drunk. I felt this was a good start. Then Norm’s Grandma showed up. It was crazy.” Sounds like there was quite a bit of joy on the set!
