Hollywood A-lister Michael Douglas will appear in the upcoming Chinese movie Animal World, and the trailer for the film is honestly too crazy for words.
Directed by Han Yan, whose previous films include Go Away Mr Tumour and First Time, Animal World appears to be a movie about martial artist clowns fighting giant cockroaches. Kind of like if The Matrix and Stephen King’s It had a baby, with a little bit of Starship Troopers thrown in. There doesn’t appear to be a huge amount of information available on this bizarre looking flick, although I was able to ascertain that it’s supposed to be a very loose adaptation of the manga series Ultimate Survivor by Nobuyuki Fukumoto.
Animal World also stars Yi Feng Li and Dongyu Zhou, and IMDb states that it will open in China on 29 June 2018. Douglas, meanwhile, will soon be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as he’ll also be appearing in this year’s Ant-Man and the Wasp. His presence in Animal World should help the Chinese distributors to sell the film overseas, so if you ever wanted to see a double Oscar winner appearing in a film about ninja clowns fighting giant bug monsters, you’re in luck.
