Octavia Spencer Joins Blumhouse’s New Twisted Thriller Ma

I don’t know about you, but one of my favorite actresses working in horror nowadays is Octavia Spencer. From her small role in Rob Zombie’s Halloween II to her recent Oscar-worthy turn in The Shape of Water, I love Octavia Spencer.
It is with this in mind I’m happy to pass along word that Blumhouse will be teaming with Ms. Spencer on the new “twisted thriller” Ma. While not much is known about the film, Deadline reports that Spencer will play “a lonely woman who befriends a group of teenagers with torturous consequences for the kids.”

The flick will reteam Spencer with her The Help director Tate Taylor based on a script by Scotty Landes, which was developed by Ryan Turek, who will co-produce along with Jason Blum and John Norris.
The film will also star Juliette Lewis, Luke Evans, Diana Silvers (Glass), Cory Fogelmanis (“Girl Meets World”), McKaley Miller (“Hart of Dixie”), Dante Brown (“Lethal Weapon”), and Gianni Paolo (“The Mick”).
