Conan the Barbarian Comics Returning to Marvel Next Year

The fact that Marvel already regained the Star Wars comic license from Dark Horse clearly wasn’t enough, because the House of Ideas has now re-obtained another of Dark Horse’s biggest properties.

Marvel Entertainment has announced that the Conan the Barbarian franchise will return to Marvel next year due to an agreement between the comic publisher and Conan Properties International. Marvel originally held the Conan license between 1970-2000, and in that time, they published over 650 individual issues featuring Robert E. Howard’s Cimmerian hero, most of which were later reprinted by Dark Horse.

No plot details about Marvel’s new Conan stories were revealed, although the press release did include two new covers drawn by acclaimed comic artists. The first was created by Esad Ribić and shows a bloodied Conan in battle, and the second by Mike Deodato features the Barbarian standing alongside Wolverine and Thor, which basically confirms that Conan will be once again be interacting with the heroes of the Marvel Universe as soon as the publisher regains the license.
