Star Wars Gets Spooky With Are You Scared, Darth Vader?

The biggest franchise in the world will be taking a spooky turn later this year with the release of the book Are You Scared, Darth Vader? Written and illustrated by Adam Rex, the young readers book will depict the titular Dark Lord of the Sith in a series of increasingly frightening situations, including encounters with witches, ghosts, and monsters.

The book was designed to have the look and feel of an old black and white horror film, with Rex revealing a few of the featured illustrations throughout his interview with Star Wars.com. As you can see from his sketches, the creatures which will antagonize Vader in the tale clearly have their appearances modeled on classic movie monsters including Nosferatu and The Wolf Man, although keep in mind that this story is clearly non-canon.

We’ll find out what scares cinema’s most famous villain when Are You Scared, Darth Vader? hits stores on 3 July 2018 via Disney Lucasfilm Press. It’s available for pre-order now, so you’ll have plenty of time to pick this up for your Star Wars-loving kids before Halloween rolls into town.
