The clock is quickly ticking down to the deadline for film submissions to Screamfest LA Horror Film Festival 2011. For those of you who need a refresher as to what this film festival can do for your career, we’ve got two words for you: Paranormal Activity.

Screamfest LAScreamfest was initially the only festival with the insight to screen this eventual mega-hit, franchise-launching film. Will your picture be the next blockbuster to be introduced by Screamfest?

This is the real deal, folks! Are you the next Oren Peli? Having your film screened here could be the first step toward filmmaking fame and fortune. So get off your butts, get that masterpiece you’ve been dying to share in an envelope, lick some stamps and send that baby in! Hey, you never know.

Film judges include producer Craig Perry (Final Destination, American Pie), KNB’s Emmy-winning special effects master Greg Nicotero, producer Joe Daley (Clive Barker’s Seraphim Films) and legendary producer and director Sean S. Cunningham (Friday The 13th).

The final postmark deadline for film submissions is August 15th. Festival organizers are also accepting screenplay submissions. You’ve got a little more time for that one. The final deadline date is November 1.

From the Press Release
Screamfest Horror Film Festival is currently accepting submissions for horror genre films and screenplays. In 2007 Screamfest discovered and premiered Paranormal Activity, and we are looking for the next big hit!

Screamfest Horror Film Festival was founded to give up-and-coming filmmakers and writers a venue to showcase their horror genre work. There are so many talented filmmakers and writers in the genre, and Screamfest provides a great opportunity for them to have their work discovered just as Oren Peli, director and producer of Paranormal Activity, was discovered through his entry. Peli subsequently had the opportunity to produce Insidious and Paranormal Activity 2 because of the great success of Paranormal Activity.

Due to the festival’s exposure and film industry connections, winning screenplays have been optioned and purchased. Several past Screamfest winning directors have now directed for Sam Raimi, and others have been attached to studio films as a result of Screamfest.

The 11th annual Screamfest Horror Film Festival takes place October 14th–23rd, 2011 at the Chinese 6 Theatres at Hollywood and Highland in Hollywood. It is any filmmaker’s dream to have his/her work premiered in a Hollywood theater. Screamfest showcases talented genre filmmakers and writers from around the world to the entertainment industry in order to help further their careers.
