Draug Trailer Takes Horror Into the World of Vikings

The first trailer for the Nordic period horror film Draug has been released and it’s pretty damn fantastic! Dark, atmospheric, violent, and set against a haunting piece of music, I’d say that this trailer hearkens back to the ones we saw for The Witch. I’m not saying the two films are on the same page but there’s definitely a thread of similarity between the two.

The film is currently in post-production and will be released in early 2018.

Draug is written, directed, and produced by Klas Persson and Karin Engman. It stars Elna Karlsson, Thomas Hedengran, Oscar Skagerberg, Lina Hedlund, Urban Bergsten, Nina Filimoshkina, Ralf Beck, and Matti Boustedt.

Synopsis:
Sweden, 11th century. A missionary cortege has gone missing inside Ödmården, a huge forest that divides the north from the south. The king sends out his hird to either retrieve them or kill the insurgents responsible for their deaths. Among the soldiers is Nanna, a young woman on her first real mission. Orphaned at a young age she has been raised by the king’s hird and is now for the first time traveling to her birth home, the still pagan areas north of Ödmården. For every step they venture further into the dark forest it becomes clearer that there is something else with them in there. Something evil.
